Knead started as a small family artisan bakery café in August 2006 in Wembley Square in Cape Town. Today we have 5 stores across Cape Town. The Knead family goes back a long way and it was by looking back to the old ways that we are able to bring you the best of today’s bakeries.

Preparing our Café Food is based on simple, unfussy processes and values. We work with a small store of seasonal ingredients sourced locally and easily available. We do not leave anything to chance and that is why we roast and serve our own BAKERS COFFEE.

Our family of bakers and chefs are local people who have worked hard to learn the best way of making everything you see. That’s why we have left our kitchens open, for you to admire what they do and see a true artisans at work. .

When we make bread the dough is kneaded, left to rise slowly, shaped and finally baked in the oven in true artisanal style, throughout the day.

We are passionate about making the best quality product and we take our time to guarantee this.
